Tahoe Jewish Community NTHC & TBY – Shavuot 5782 –
June 4, 2022 Celebrate Shavuot – “Climb” to Spooner Lake State Park to celebrate with North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation & Temple Bat Yam
Saturday June 4, 2022
6:30pm-8:30pm
Shavuot marks the moment our ancestors stood together at Mt. Sinai. It is a holiday of re-committing ourselves to study, learning and lives rooted in the texts of our tradition. There are many customs associated with this holiday. Over the years, our Tahoe congregations, NTHC & TBY, have celebrated this holy day in various ways. This year, we’ll climb to Spooner Summit (not quite Sinai!) to learn together outside, share a festive pot-luck meal, and study!
Come ready to share a dairy dish (it is tradition to eat dairy foods on Shavuot, so bring on the cheesecakes!), embrace whatever weather comes our way, and with a favorite Jewish text! That’s right, we’re bringing back the Shavuot program of “Text-Wars”. This is a fun and engaging way to share the Jewish texts that have inspired each of us with others and learn from others too!
Not just for the adults! This year on Shavuot, Student Rabbi Hannah will be with us, so bring the whole family as Student Rabbi Hannah and Rabbi Evon will have engaging learning and activities for all ages!
What You’ll Need:
- Comfortable clothes & layers prepared for whatever the weather brings
- A dairy dish to share for a pot-luck meal
- Water
- Your Favorite Jewish Text (this can be as simple as Hineh Mah Tov, which may not be that simple, or as complex as the Oven of Achnai Story from Talmud, go ahead and ask!)
- Positive energy!!Click here to RSVP!
